School Benefits
The school will be substituting and serving local beef versus government commodity beef. What percent of local beef used through the school year is dependent on success of fundraising.
The beef will mainly be in the form of ground beef but other cuts such as roasts, stew meat and deli meat may be used from time to time. (Serving sizes will not be affected by this program as those are set by the government).
The program will provide students an opportunity to see firsthand the impact of the beef industry and crop production in Nebraska and gain an understanding of how each functions in our communities.
The school will be implementing educational materials to students on “farm to fork” with this program.
